Research Inquiry
For this project I explored the social issue of colourism. It was research led, I focused of the Asian community in particular, since skin-whitening creams are very popular in India especially. They are marketed to base beauty on a racial hierarchy, fuelling intolerance and causing serious social harm. Throughout my project I conducted surveys, explored the ever popular Fair & Lovely cream, creating concepts for my own packaging and had various conversations with friends and family on their knowledge (if any) and experiences with colourism. I kept within the Fair & lovely colours, adding red to contrast, suggesting the conflict in the subject.
